In October, the first year of training completed the traditional 10-day trainee workshop on Juist. The theme of the 2025 course was ‘YOU! Just be yourself!’ – an appeal that is often heard in social media, motivational training and also in the world of work. What sounds simple is one of the most challenging personal learning tasks: finding out and living who you really are.
During the workshop, the participants worked in project groups, which were put together by drawing lots, to explore aspects of this topic and develop artistic statements based on their findings. The results were presented in the form of a film, a play and a song.
Training manager Sabine Hinrichs praised the final projects: "The course participants engaged with the topic and with themselves in a very profound way. The film amazed me and made me pause, the play made me laugh in many places, but also made me think, and the song became a catchy tune whose content lingered long after. This shows how seriously the trainees engaged with themselves. These experiences contribute to personal development – and thus also back into the world of work."
The educational concept of Jubi Juist aims to strengthen self-esteem by consciously overcoming challenges – among other things, the trainees learn to fly a motor glider. Living together in close quarters, involvement in daily routines and creative project work promote a willingness to take responsibility, self-organisation, teamwork, reflective thinking and innovative strength. The workshop follows the principle ‘Juist is what you make of it’ – and the current cohort has impressively demonstrated what that can be.
