Continuous optimization of our products and services
We create sustainable solutions for our customers and support sustainable and future-oriented industries with our sophisticated products. That is why we develop and use environmentally friendly product alternatives and optimize our products in terms of their environmental compatibility and lower concentration levels.
We also continuously improve their application properties to make them even more durable and easy to process. We maintain long-term partnerships with our suppliers and select our raw materials responsibly. We are constantly increasing the proportion of environmentally friendly, bio-based, or recycled raw materials. Our goal is for our processes, products, and services to contribute to greater sustainability in the value chain.
Sustainability in the product portfolio: clearly defined, systematically tracked, and optimized based on data
In 2025, BÜFA developed a uniform definition for sustainable products in the cleaning sector to evaluate its product portfolio more transparently and further develop it in a targeted manner. The starting point was the previous focus on the EU Ecolabel, which, however, covered only part of the portfolio and did not fully include international companies.
In addition to product composition—such as bio-based or circular raw materials—the new system also takes into account sustainability aspects in application as well as packaging solutions, such as recycled content or reusable concepts. This ensures that sustainability is considered holistically throughout the product life cycle.
A key outcome is the establishment of a digital database that enables the systematic classification and evaluation of sustainable products. By 2026, all products and relevant packaging types will be recorded and evaluated. Building on this, BÜFA is defining concrete, measurable goals for the further development of a more sustainable product portfolio.
Innovative Composite Solutions
Sustainable product development is a central component of BÜFA Composite Systems’ innovation strategy: The goal is to consistently combine environmental responsibility, safety, and industrial performance. One example is the BÜFA® Firestop Gelcoat S 320, which meets the highest fire safety requirements in rail vehicle construction while setting new standards for sustainable materials.
With rPET-based polyester resins, BÜFA also strengthens the circular economy by recycling up to 4,200 recycled PET bottles per ton of resin and reducing CO₂ emissions by up to 15%. Full compatibility with existing production processes is maintained.
In mold making, BÜFA®-Resin VE 6699 Tooling Infusion enables virtually emission-free production of molds using closed infusion processes. This improves both occupational safety and the performance and durability of the components.
Drawing on many years of expertise and award-winning technologies—including those developed by the AVK (Industrial Association for Reinforced Plastics)—BÜFA continuously develops sustainable solutions that successfully combine sustainability with industrial performance.
