We invest in start-ups with a pioneering spirit – for change and sustainable progress
At BÜFA, we are committed to innovation – in our products, processes, and partnerships. To actively shape our future, we invest specifically in innovative ideas and sustainable business models. That is why we are involved in the ECBF (European Circular Bioeconomy Fund) and HTGF (High-Tech Gründerfonds) start-up funds and directly support forward-looking start-ups such as Ferr-Tech and ZukunftMoor. Through our investments, we not only promote young, courageous entrepreneurs, but also gain valuable external input – for our own further development and for sustainable transformation in our target industries.
ZukunftMoor
BÜFA is investing in the start-up ZukunftMoor to combine climate protection and sustainable economic efficiency. By rewetting moors and cultivating peat moss, the aim is to phase out peat, create new sources of income, and reduce CO₂ emissions. Moors are important carbon sinks – provided they remain wet. With our investment, we are promoting this forward-looking form of land use and will also have offset an additional 400 tons of CO₂ by 2024.
High-Tech Gründerfonds
BÜFA has been invested in the High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), one of Europe's leading early-stage investors, since 2017. Since 2005, the fund has been supporting innovative ideas from technology-oriented start-ups in the fields of digital tech, industrial tech, life sciences, and chemistry through financial participation, consulting, and its extensive network. Through its participation in HTGF, BÜFA is strengthening its position as an innovation partner and actively shaping the technological future.

Ferr-Tech
BÜFA has held a stake in Ferr-Tech since 2022. The Dutch start-up focuses on environmentally friendly wastewater treatment. Ferr-Tech is the first company to offer the efficient and environmentally friendly oxidation chemical FerSol® for industrial applications. The production of ferric ferrate in a stable and ready-to-use form was not possible until the company developed a unique process. It is used to treat wastewater and enables water to be reused in industry.
European Circular Bioeconomy Fund (ECBF)
BÜFA has been invested in the European Circular Bioeconomy Fund (ECBF) since 2021. The ECBF supports projects and companies in the bioeconomy and bioeconomic circular economy in Europe. The aim is to actively contribute to the implementation of the European Green Deal and to climate neutrality in Europe by 2050.
